A letter from the founder.
If you are reading this, you are one of the first people to join this community, and I want to start by saying thank you. Not in the automatic, corporate way — but genuinely. You chose to give us your attention, and attention is the most valuable thing any of us has.
I built Salus because I needed it. Three years ago, I was running a company, sleeping four hours a night, and telling myself I was fine. I was not fine. My body knew it before my mind did — migraines, a locked jaw, a resting heart rate that had no business being that high. A friend suggested I try meditation. I laughed. Then I tried it. And something shifted.
Not because the world needs another wellness app. It does not. But because most meditation tools I found were either too clinical or too mystical. They either read like a medical textbook or asked me to "vibrate at a higher frequency." I wanted something in between — grounded in science, warm in tone, and honest about the fact that sitting still is genuinely hard sometimes.
The name Salus comes from the Latin word for health, safety, and well-being. In ancient Rome, Salus was the goddess who watched over the welfare of the people. We chose the name because we believe wellness is not a luxury. It is a public good. Everyone deserves access to tools that help them breathe a little easier, sleep a little deeper, and move through their days with a little more presence.
"Stillness is not something you find. It is something you choose, again and again, in the middle of everything."
Once a month, we will send you a short letter. No listicles. No clickbait. Just one honest reflection on some aspect of meditation, wellness, or the experience of being a human being trying to pay attention in a world designed to distract you. We will share science when it is relevant, practical tips when they are useful, and silence when that is what the moment calls for.
We will never sell your data. We will never spam you. And if you ever want to unsubscribe, we will wish you well and mean it.
This is the beginning of something. I do not know exactly what it will become, and I have learned to be comfortable with that. What I do know is that every great journey starts with a single breath. So let us take one together.
Inhale. Exhale. Welcome to Salus.
With stillness,
The Salus Team
